Nothing like a jade mat. Its real rubber has incredible grip. The extra wide version is nice as it gives you substantial room to “play”. Note there is a distinct, though not unpleasant, scent when opening your mat. This slight scent helps to instantly bring my mind to the mat too. Note this mat WILL NOT slip on any floor. When teaching yoga, I sometimes bring old worn out jade mats to put under other people’s mats if they are slipping all around. I use my mat 6 days/week and a jade mat typically lasts me 2-3 years. Worth the investment!

As other commentators have mentioned, it stinks to high heaven of latex. It also collects dust like crazy and shows every finger/toe mark. It's heavy and unwieldy.
That said, it is ROCK SOLID. It grips the floor and does not budge. It doesn't stretch or flex at all no matter how hard you push against it. At the same time, it has a nice amount of cushion and support. The extra large is absolutely worth it - for the first time I don't feel cramped on my mat, and I'm not a large person. I'm no longer banging my head and elbows and knees against the floor instead of the mat.
Overall, a great mat.

The width is perfect - just a couple inches wider than a standard mat, and that's all you need. It's still easily transportable (although most yoga mat bags max out at 27" so I had to buy a premium bag). The length is also enough for my 6-foot height, and I feel like I have room to play. Overall it does not become burdensome to transport. The grip is great, as with my other Jade Yoga mat. It will take a little time to wear in, as the initial layer of residue stays on for a little while. My only gripe is that even after weighting down the end for weeks, it's still curling... but that's so minor :)
